Oh my, there's heaps to say on this one, and Elizabeth O'Shea – a most revered parental coach regularly called upon by the BBC and Sky for her comments and expertise in parenting issues – contributes a most insightful chapter on parenthood and delegation. Her central thesis got me straightaway: ‘Our job as a parent is to make ourselves redundant.’
After all, redundancy is the ultimate delegation. Who'd have thought that something so thoroughly aligned with the negative could ultimately become so positive?
