EDITING: WRITING WITH CLARITY AND CONCISENESS

Messages written in plain language are much more likely to be read, understood, and heeded—in much less time. Your reader should not have to muddle through confusing, excess verbiage to discover your meaning. Readers who become frustrated by unclear writing might not read a document at all. Whether you’re writing to the general public or to members of your agency’s staff, clarity and conciseness will help you get your message across.
