What Is an Acquisition Title?
An acquisition title is a feature film, TV show, documentary etc. that is purchased by a studio, network or distribution company for the purpose of distribution. This may be brand new product or even an older library of movies or TV series. Sometimes this is referred to as the “back-end” (the product is being “picked up” for distribution after it has been created). Often the license fees paid for the distribution rights represent a sizeable amount of money for the producer, so it is very important that all delivery requirements are met.
