6. Still Life and Landscape
People appreciate still life and revel in landscape subjects. Designer Henry Sene Yee offers this insight into why people enjoy them so much. He says that still life and landscape are “evidence of constant and change in our constantly moving lives.”
“Still life is unchanging and controlled (except for natural light). Landscape is ever changing, moment to moment in atmosphere/weather/light. In a moment the image no longer exists,” adds animator Liz Blazer. Both subjects afford artists the chance to investigate how they see and record what they see.
