As the project management profession has matured, the number of automated tools that are claimed to control and maximize the value of an organization’s portfolio of projects has increased dramatically. Although there is nothing wrong with these tools, my observations and experience have led me to believe that many organizations are not ready for a sophisticated portfolio management tool. Why?
