It took me 25 years to know the meaning of my name and recognize the sound of my own voice. During the formative years of my life, I believed that the authentic version of myself was the weakest part of myself.

For so long my name sounded like something from an unspoken language when it left my mouth. I followed my name with question marks, unsure of who I was: Was I the parts I showed the world? Or the things that haunted me as I tried to sleep at night? Was I the best things I’ve ever done, or the accumulation of my worst mistakes?

All of the above.
