As photographers, we have a bunch of tools at our disposal that we work with in order to get the job done. Of course, we have our camera and we have whatever light we are hitting our subject with, as well as whatever lens choice we decide upon. However, when it comes to portraiture, we need more than just those tools. We need to direct our subject and, as a director, what do we really have at our disposal? We have our thoughts, ideas, and we have our ability to communicate with our subject.
