The Wounded Knight

Sometimes the crack can literally be a wound. I call it the Wounded Knight syndrome.

In Witness, the young Amish woman Rachel (Kelly McGillis) doesn’t have any feelings for John Book (Harrison Ford) until he is shot and almost dies. Before this turning point at the end of Act One, they don’t even like each other. They have nothing in common. They are from completely different worlds. While John is unconscious, Rachel nurses him, washing his naked torso, bandaging his gunshot wound. At one point, in the middle of the night, she comes in and thinks he’s died.
