THE CAMERA METERS WE GREW UP ON were just like the televisions we grew up with. Some blacks, a few whites, but the world inside those big boxes was mostly gray.
Now, we have i-TTL: intelligent-Through The Lens. That means the camera is metering for exactly what it sees, then relaying that info to the flash. The Speedlight has the monitor pre-flash going on, which is cool. The camera has the matrix meter heated up, and the lens is pitching in with critical focus distance info. “Range: 27 meters and closing! Plot firing solution!”
