3. Text and Typography

Overview

By the end of this chapter, you will be able to identify the most suitable heading element for a web page; use the most common text-based HTML elements; develop common web page features such as navigation and breadcrumbs; explain the importance of semantic markup; and convert a design into semantic markup. This chapter introduces the text-based elements used for web page content. We will first take a tour through the text-based HTML elements. We will then look into the styling of these elements and finally put this into practice with some exercises to do with building common web page components.
