The intent of this chapter was to provide you with the minimum essential skills for effectively making your way around a disassembly. The overwhelming majority of your interactions with IDA will involve the operations that we have discussed so far. With navigation safely under your belt, the logical next step is learning how to modify IDA databases to suit your particular needs. In the next chapter we begin to look at how to make the most basic changes to a disassembly as a means of adding new knowledge based on our understanding of a binary’s content and behavior.
