Abstract

High-quality power delivery is essential for data centers and financial institutions because of large economic losses with power outages. This chapter describes measures taken to ensure stable power delivery to computers and servers using uninterruptible power supplies (UPS). These power supplies rely of the insulated-gate bipolar transistor (IGBT) for their designs. Examples of UPS systems developed by various companies are discussed with their circuit topologies and IGBT ratings.
