Globalization in the big box retailing sector has had mixed results over the past few years. Ten years ago when I looked at the competition Ikea was facing, I was certain we would see a surge of international expansion from the big retailers of this world. Many certainly tried, but the results have been mixed. Very few big European retailers have been successful in the United States. Very few big American retailers have been successful in Europe.
