Children’s Hospital Medical Center in Cincinnati has used the Model for Improvement for a number of years to guide improvement work. It was decided in 2005 to take lessons learned from the Institute for Healthcare Improvement’s (IHI) 100K Lives campaign (adult focus) and apply these changes to reduce infection and mortality rates for children in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU).
