After a project is closed, there are still opportunities to expand and extend its impact. One set of opportunities centers on getting the word out, while the other set centers on planting the seeds of the program in other locations.
Dissemination and Social Marketing
As mentioned previously, dissemination and social marketing are different approaches to moving impact beyond local effects. Dissemination is akin to broadcasting; it spreads information widely, without a clear connection to change and behavior. Social marketing is analogous to the newer concept of narrowcasting; it targets specific audiences and attempts to change their behavior in demonstrable ways.
