Chapter 1. Meet the iPod
My guess is that you wouldn’t be reading these words if an iPod weren’t already part of your life—or soon to be part of your life. Congratulations. You’ve chosen to ally yourself with the world’s most popular and—in my humble opinion—finest portable music player.
Oh, sure, there have been pretenders to the throne—countless “iPod killers” that, on closer examination, proved to be nothing more than less-capable and less-stylish wannabes. Despite multiple attempts to diminish its dominance, the iPod remains It—the music player to own.
And now that you do, it’s time to become better acquainted with your musical buddy. To get started, let’s take a tour through the various iPod models, and rummage around in the iPod’s box.
