The field of medicine is the last major industry that the Internet has yet to penetrate. Almost all data interchange there still gets done with faxes. One young doctor told me, “My kids’ babysitter makes better use of the Internet than we do here at [a major teaching hospital].”
Let’s apply our newly learned UX skills and techniques to a Web portal for medical patients. We’ll work through a case study for Boston’s Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, which has such a thing. We can make it a whole lot better.
