Chapter Overview

As you’ve already seen, a <Placemark> can contain a <Point> that defines its geographic location. This chapter describes how a Placemark can contain any member of the Geometry family of elements, or a combination of the following elements:

• <Point>

• <LineString>

• <LinearRing>

• <Polygon>

• <MultiGeometry>

• <Model>

A Geometry element defines the fundamental shape of the object associated with a <Placemark>. In the case of a <Point>, <LineString>, <LinearRing>, or <Polygon>, the coordinates of the Geometry define its shape. The shape of a <Model> is defined by a set of coordinates contained in an external file. Other elements that affect the shape are the following:
