We live in language the way dolphins live in water. Language is such a fundamental aspect of the experience of being human that we become oblivious to it. Yet it has a profound effect on every aspect of our life. We connect with other people, establish rapport, share emotions, communicate ideas, propose solutions, inspire, instruct, chastise, praise, seduce, worship: all in and through language.
