The future is rapidly approaching at an ever-increasing rate. Thanks to this speed of transformation and countless other variables, it is exceedingly difficult to imagine precisely what the future will look like. But for the sake of future generations, it is imperative that we try to do so. As a society, we must begin taking accountability for the decisions that we are making on behalf of all of humanity. Emerging AI technologies will almost inevitably transform every facet of human life, so we need to do whatever is in our power to ensure that this transformation is a positive one. Depending on how events play out, the result of this new digital transformation could fall anywhere within a massive spectrum of possibilities, ranging from a utopian paradise to a dystopian hellscape and nearly anything in between. The decisions we make now will matter and will inevitably reshape the world for ourselves and all future generations. This is not a responsibility that we can take lightly. We cannot disregard the weight of this moment or turn a blind eye.

The direction of our future, as it pertains to advanced AI, is going to impact every human alive today and everyone who follows behind us. If we, as a society, choose to ignore these risks, then this negligence could be our own undoing.
