“Did you see the voicemail on your cell?”
Maureen greeted Adam at the door before he had a chance to reach for the handle. Adam looked down at his cell phone and spotted the icon signaling the missed call.
“Shoot! Must have lost the signal when I was out at the rock.”
“Shirley called here at the house when she couldn’t reach you,” Maureen said. “Something about the investment bankers needing to go over some issues, but Darren covered it since you were not available.”
Adam tensed, then punched the speed dial button on the cell phone.
“Adam,” Maureen said more firmly, “did you even hear me? Shirley said Darren took care of it.”
