“I saw you and Jason talking,” Mo said, nuzzling her shoulder into Adam’s side as they sat on the couch. “How did that go?”
“It ended up okay.”
“Okay?” Maureen was careful in her reply this time; okay was one of those words, like fine, that could mean almost anything.
Adam smiled slightly. “No, better than okay, actually.”
“Difference being … ?”
Good question. Adam had not felt the need to pick the conversation apart; it had seemed so natural. Still, he knew the answer.
