Pride

ARISTOTLE TAUGHT THAT PRIDE WAS THE GREATEST OF ALL VIRTUES because to earn it you had to have all the other virtues—rationality, independent thinking, productivity, honesty, integrity, justice, and so on. As such, pride serves an important role. It is a psychological reminder to behave consistently with your other values and a psychological reward for doing so.
