Chapter 1 Lean Innovation and the Lean Innovation Cycle
The Introduction covered a lot. Both Innovation and Lean were introduced and defined. We created operational definitions for two of the most pervasive words in the business lexicon. The lexicon has been standardized. What a Lean thing to do! Now in this opening chapter, I introduce two definitions of my own: Lean Innovation and the Lean Innovation Cycle. As noted in the Introduction, the purpose of adding new definitions to the lexicon is to create a distinction between what lies ahead and traditional approaches to innovation. By creating this distinction, innovation can begin to be unpacked and understood at a deeper level.
