Arjan and I talked a lot as we
rebuilt his ferry. He told me he
likes to put lots of details into
every model at the beginning
of the build. That way, he can
tell if it will turn out the way
he wants. Most of his LEGO
models are quite large, but they
are all minifigure scale and have
a lot of functions that are found
on a real vessel. I think his
models are incredible!

BUILDING JOURNAL
Arjan is partial to industrial machines, like ships used for fishing or
transportation, that will get dirty, beaten up, and rusty. He often
builds replica models, using references images from the Internet.
When he finds something he wants to build, he looks for detailed
plans or technical drawings so he can re-create it at a 1:40 scale.
