EXERCISE 7 | ISOLATING THE LETTERING
To work on the lettering, it has to be isolated from the white background. To do this, you will have to perform a few technical manipulations in Photoshop.
1. Starting with the Channels panel (the tab to the right of Layers), select your lettering piece by clicking the icon at the bottom left, Load channel as selection.

2. Now create an alpha channel using the Save selection as channel icon. This will automatically create a selection of everything that is around the lettering piece.
