Some people need a good kick up the backside to draw out their best and to get them to work productively, others need a simple pat on the back. If you kick the person who needs a pat, or likewise if you pat the one who needs a good kick, then you decrease their commitment and motivation and in the process reduce your output.

You know which are which already, thank goodness.

People are your biggest resource, your biggest cost and your biggest profit improvement opportunity.
