18.1 Be on your guard for monkeys!
Sometimes, your people will try to delegate upwards to you! You may have heard the phase “To get the monkey off my shoulder”. Translated, this means that one of your people has a problem, issue or challenge and they are unsure of how to proceed and really want you to make the decision and take responsibility for implementing it away from them so it's not their problem anymore, it's yours. It's not their monkey, it's your monkey!
