2.12. Opening Microsoft Excel Spreadsheets as SAS Data Sets
When you open a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet as a SAS data set, SAS Enterprise Guide copies the data in the spreadsheet into a SAS data set. As a result:
You can run tasks using the data (and the tasks will run more quickly because it’s faster to read a SAS data set than a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet).
You can edit the data, but any changes you make will not be applied to the original Microsoft Excel spreadsheet.
If the original spreadsheet changes, SAS Enterprise Guide will not automatically read the updated version. To get the updated version, you must import the spreadsheet again.
