WHAT IS HARASSMENT?

The definition of harassment has broadened over time. It originally referred almost exclusively to the male/female relationship, but grew to include the issue of same-sex harassment, and hostile working environment. A hostile work environment is defined as working conditions so intolerable that they create extreme stress in employees. (The employee who voluntarily quits as a result has an actionable case based on the concept of constructive discharge.)
