INTRODUCTION

Before a company or its management executes its employee relations strategy, it must first set the expectation for change. That is, it must demonstrate through its actions that change and the employee’s agreement or disagreement are acceptable.

PREPARE—PROVIDE—PARTICIPATE—PRACTICE

Prepare the group for change. Actively solicit feedback to set the stage for interactive, unfiltered, information exchange.

Provide support for this new philosophy of risk taking. Demonstrate through your actions that acts of co-mission are always preferred to acts of omission.

Participate with the group. Management by walking around is better than desktop management.
