Chapter Three

How People Learn

Sit back and think through one very important question: How do people learn? The last time you learned something, what was it? How did you learn it? Did you read a book? Watch a DVD? Learn it from a friend? Go to a seminar? Review information online? Or did you learn on the job or through trial and error?

It is critical that you understand how we human beings learn. If you are a leader, you might not actually conduct the training or even oversee the training, but I want to be crystal clear about this: you must—absolutely must—have a general understanding about how people learn so that you can make intelligent decisions about training.
