YOUR MENTORING RELATIONSHIP has come full cycle. Along the way, you’ve challenged your mentee to think about who and what he or she might become, and you’ve set your mentee on a path. You’ve supported, challenged, and encouraged him or her to envision new possibilities. You’ve engaged in reflective conversations so that he or she might learn from experience.
As mentors, we hope the lessons our mentees have learned continue to light their path. But these lessons can also continue to light your path. One of the gifts of mentoring is the gift of reengagement. It is a gift that keeps giving if you are open to receiving it.
