As we’ve seen from Chapter 5, the vast majority of MIDI instruments and devices store their internal patch preset data within RAM memory. Synthesizers, samplers, or other devices contain information on how the controlling oscillators, amplifiers, filters, tuning, and other presets are to be configured, in order to create a particular sound timbre or effect.
