The MIDI 2.0 Spec
The fact that MIDI 1.0 has been in place from 1983 till 2020 (almost 40 years!) is an amazing testament to the individuals and companies that joined forces to create a robust spec that has forever changed the face of music production. However, as with all things, the time has finally come to broaden the spec, so as to more fully take advantage of the advances that have taken place in music hardware, music software, DAW capabilities and overall data distribution.
