NAVIGATING THE MODEL
Once you have some experience with working on specific Aspects or behaviors, the next step is paying attention to which roles you’re using when, and how you are navigating the Septet Model as a whole.
The Investigator’s questioning is the central process in coaching. Still, declarative statements (“telling”) will be part of the conversation, although they belong to other Voices. The mindful coach will move easily out of questioning and into telling easily, responding to the needs of the client and the flow of the conversation. At less mindful moments, our attachment to a different identity may take over and pull us prematurely out of questioning.
