THE MINDFUL GUIDE
Those of us who like to solve problems and get satisfaction from helping others are in particular danger of overusing the Guide Voice. To the extent that we become attached to being a giver of advice, it becomes very easy to collude with the client by being more directive than is appropriate.
Besides overusing the Guide, we can also err by projecting on our clients. Sometimes we suggest a plan of action because we find it intriguing, or it’s something we’d like to do. A test, as with the other Voices, is noticing if you experience extra energy or excitement as you move into this role.
