In 2009, the 60 Minutes episode about the North Carolina wrongful conviction case of Ronald Cotton accused of raping Jennifer Thompson in her apartment in 1984 aired, and as a forensic artist, I was intrigued by the issues surrounding eyewitness memory. The two-part episode included Dr. Elizabeth Loftus and Dr. Gary L. Wells explaining the issues pertaining to eyewitness recall and the system variables that contribute to misidentifications.
