River of Consciousness, Stream of Images

It’s an exhilarating time to be a photographer. Opportunities abound to communicate using images of our own making within a global arena. We are, or can be, active producers of live content filtered through and expressing our observations, attitudes, intelligence, commitments—and conscience. While websites and all forms of social media rely on images, in my estimation one of the most important development for photographers in the 21st century is the swift adoption of Instagram by hundreds of millions of people in less than a decade.
