GUI Add-Ons for OS/2
Just as with Windows, it is possible to use OS/2's built-in features and add third-party utilities to modify OS/2's look and feel. OS/2's windowing environment is known as the Presentation Manager (PM). PM handles the display of windows, menus, and so on. The OS/2 desktop environment is built atop the PM and is known as the WorkPlace Shell (WPS). Newcomers to OS/2 sometimes confuse the two or don't realize that there is a distinction between them.
OS/2's GUI add-ons and modifications can be classified in much the same way as can Windows', and with equal fuzziness; sometimes a program performs more than one task or does something that is not easily categorized.
