When to Use an Emulator

Running several OSs on a single computer can be a liberating experience, but it can sometimes be a frustrating one, particularly if there are programs and utilities that you must use under two or more OSs. For example, suppose that you need to create Microsoft Word documents to satisfy your boss, but you also need to use a UNIX-like OS for a programming project. If you have only one computer with more than one OS, the result will be a lot of time spent rebooting the system between OSs—particularly if you need to write up documentation on your UNIX program using Microsoft Word!
