Preparing a Zoo of OSs for an Upgrade

After you've decided on a new hardware component and purchased it, you should prepare your computer to receive the new hardware. This is step 3 of the procedure I outlined at the beginning of the chapter. In many cases, you must alter configurations in all your OSs. In some cases, though, you might not need to change one or more OSs at all. For example, if you use only text-mode applications in DOS or a UNIX-like OS, you don't need to do anything to prepare these OSs for a change in a video board.
