Background

Context

Yichang, known as “Pearl of the Three Gorges and the World Hydroelectric Center,” is a beautiful and prosperous city in the western province of Hubei, China. It was named as Yiling in ancient times and its name loosely means “the place where rivers are full and the mountains ascend.” The city is known for its civilization and is promoted as the National Tourism City. A poet has keenly described its beauty as “a place that connects Shu and Chu, and a magical land blessed by nature with a unique landscape.”
