Filters can alter an image’s appearance in many ways. Using filters, you can transform your images with textures, special effects, artistic effects, distortion, blurs of various kinds, sharpness, lens corrections, lighting effects, and much more. The possibilities are dizzying, especially when you consider that most filters provide many adjustment options.
Before you apply a filter to a layer, you can first convert the layer into a Smart Object layer. When you apply a filter to a Smart Object layer, the filter becomes a Smart Filter, a non-destructive editing layer that preserves the original image.
