THE INNER SANCTUM OF AURELIA'S board at Caring Hospice, Inc. has been my private observatory for more than a decade. I have witnessed nothing less than an organizational miracle within its confines. Caring Hospice is a nonprofit that trains and supports hospital chaplains. When I first began observing the board, Aurelia was new to the executive director post, and though this was only her third executive position, she took on the mighty task of transforming the board. What had been a stodgy healthcare and pastoral care agency is now a thought leader in its field and a national beacon in palliative care.
