Chapter 9Capturing Query Processing Metrics
New to ASE 15, Sybase introduces a mechanism to capture many existing query metrics, in addition to some new metrics. In this chapter, we explore how to capture and analyze the Query Processing Metrics (QP Metrics). The chapter explores how to capture QP Metrics as well as how to query the QP Metrics view. We discuss how to analyze the query metrics data in order to detect the most frequently executed queries and the most expensive queries, and how to monitor the performance of the same query over time. Suggestions are also made on how to make performance degradations a little more obvious when using the QP Metrics capture.
