I wish I could promise you that a family-friendly work arrangement will not affect your career. For many, it will not. My flexible work has actually created more opportunities for me. For example, if I stayed in a traditional work arrangement, I wouldn’t have had the opportunity to write this book. However, an alternate work arrangement, particularly a reduced-hour schedule, can impact your career. Stepping away from a traditional career path will often take you out of the running for the next promotion.
