CHAPTER 3

FLIGHT SCHOOL

IF YOU WERE TO FLY A FULL-SCALE AIRCRAFT, you would be expected to attend flight school, where you would learn about the capabilities of an aircraft and how to control it. You would also learn about how things like temperature and altitude affect your aircraft. You would practice some different maneuvers, such as banking and climbing and, most importantly, you’d learn how to land safely. Once you completed these tasks, you would also have the option to become instrument rated, where you could fly based on the instruments. This requires a deep understanding of what all the needles and numbers in the cockpit mean and how to use them.
