While we strive to achieve tack sharpness on the most important elements in a scene, we also like to have control over the out-of-focus elements. A nicely blurred background makes those in-focus subjects pop right out of the photo. We usually seek to control sharpness and blur through our choice of lens and aperture, but there are ways to add and control blurring in Photoshop as well. If you enjoy adding blur effects in your post-production workflow, then you are going to love the three new blur filters—Field Blur, Iris Blur, and Tilt-Shift—found in the all new Blur Gallery in Photoshop CS6.
