There was a time not that long ago when I used Camera Raw purely as a necessary part of the process of opening raw files before I took them into Photoshop for the serious stuff. That’s pretty much how I worked with Lightroom too, other than using it as an expensive image catalog.

However, I’m now able to do retouching and corrections in Camera Raw that before would have been challenging, to say the least.
